Resources for Licence Holders
Welcome, we’re glad you’re here!
Whether you’re newly licensed or have been practicing for years, the Insurance Council of Manitoba (ICM) is here to support you. This resource guide is designed to help you stay compliant, understand your responsibilities, and feel confident as you serve Manitobans with professionalism and integrity.
As a licensed insurance professional in Manitoba, you play an important role in protecting clients and ensuring ethical, informed service. This includes following The Insurance Act, its Regulations, the Licensing Rules, and the Code of Conduct.
Maintaining active E&O insurance is a mandatory condition of your licence.
Your coverage must:
- Always remain active
- Be updated immediately in the online portal if anything changes
For full requirements, refer to Regulation 389/87 and the Licensing Information page on the ICM website.
You are responsible for meeting the Annual Continuing Education (CE) Requirements as outlined by the ICM.
- CE must be completed through an Accredited Course Provider (ACP)
- CE must be entered into your online portal before renewing your licence
Visit the Continuing Education Info page and the CE FAQ’s on the ICM website for details on CE requirements by licence class, how to verify you’ve completed your CE requirement, and more.
Report material changes in writing to the ICM within 15 days.
The following changes must be reported immediately:
- Agency or Adjusting Firm name
- Sponsor name
- A new job or employer
- A change in job responsibilities
- Other significant information that may affect your licence
- Changes related to a Restricted Insurance Agent licence (detailed information available here)
This is not an exhaustive list. If you are uncertain whether a change must be reported, please visit the Material Changes – When to Disclose them to the ICM section on the ICM website.
If you plan to take on another job or role, you must:
- Notify the ICM in writing by sending an email to contactus@icm.mb.ca
- Receive approval before starting the new position
Please refer to the Conflict of Interest Guidelines for Additional Occupations on the ICM website.
The ICM communicates solely by email using the address listed in your portal. Please ensure your email remains current. Add the following addresses to your safe sender list:

- Receipts become available once a licence has been issued
- If you paid by credit card, you can view your receipt under Payment → History within the online portal.
