What will Council do for me?
Council can provide the following information to you:
- Whether an individual is licensed as an insurance agent, broker, or adjuster in Manitoba (referred to as an "agent" or an "adjuster");
- The type of insurance a licensed person or agency is allowed to conduct;
- Whether or not they have conditions on their licence; and
- Whether or not they have been subject to disciplinary action.
You can expect Council to look into legitimate complaints about the conduct of an agent/broker and/or an adjuster under its jurisdiction. Keep in mind that Council is authorized to discipline licensees who have been found to have breached the Act, but it does not have the power to order the payment of a claim or a refund of premiums or service fees.
To view the licensing details of an individual or agency, see the
Agent/Agency Search section of our website. Information on disciplinary action taken on an individual or agency can be obtained by
contacting our office.
